1. What Past Experiences Made You Feel Good? - You might go back to times when you were just happy to be alive. Maybe you just recovered from a terrible injury or recovered from poor health. Think of those times when you felt loved; those times when you felt lucky to be alive. That’s the giddy-up gratitude.

2. What do You Have? - Some people seem to put so much emphasis on what they don’t have. It doesn’t help. Consider you have a job or an income; you don’t have to live on the street. Consider that you have great friends and a good family to support you in times of need. You can be grateful or anything that you have - You might even be thankful to have access to this article via the internet.

3. You Gotta Start Early - Build momentum from the morning on. Start your day by saying, “thank-you” as you wake. And then every time you take a step, continue to say “thank-you,” as you walk to the bathroom. This builds great energy for your day.

4. Persistence Goes the Distance - When you start to repeat an affirmation, you want to become a parrot. Repeat the affirmation, “I’m thank-you” over and over again until it begins to become locked in your mind. Soon you’ll start to notice other changes as you walk around saying “thank-you” to the things around you. You might open the fridge to grab some breakfast and notice you’re saying “thank-you” to the food you’re looking at. Every time you see something, you’re saying “thank-you.” This is such a great exercise.

5. Consistency - Maybe you’ve tried affirmations before; maybe you looked at your fridge and said, “I’m grateful for my food ,” but you didn’t feel those feeling of gratitude. You felt like you were lying to yourself. At first it might seem like a lie, but with consistency and practice is will seem very real. After consistent effort to affirm your gratitude you will start to feel the shift and get into the groove of gratitude.
