Conscious Procrastination

No time management system is worth much if it doesn’t tell you what to do at 9am on Monday morning. Suppose you have a list of all your tasks and projects. Which one should you work on first?

What’s Your Motivation Threshold?

Over the past year and a half, I’ve seen just what a vital role purpose plays in the pursuit of personal growth. I believe that growth is an inborn human need to a certain degree, and apparently so does Tony Robbins, who includes growth on his list of the six human needs. However, I’ve found that if your only interest in personal growth comes from the level of biological need, you’ll be very limited in the amount of growth you can achieve. As an end it itself, personal growth is certainly motivating, but for some goals it just isn’t motivating enough.

Are You a Bear or an Eagle?

Sometimes when my wife and I have conversations in public, it looks like the scene from the movie Dogma where Loki and Bartleby walk through the airport talking about their previous exploits as angels. We often look around at all the sleeping people in the world, noting that they barely register as conscious beings. They go through their lives working meaningless jobs, enduring unfulfilling relationships, and drugging themselves to avoid facing their unfaceable fears. Their conversations are nothing but trivialities in the grand scheme of things.

Jack Laytham’s Manifestation Story - A Wink From the Universe

Thought Ripples

Within hours after posting A Dose of Caffeine for Your Consciousness, I went downstairs and saw that my wife was watching a movie. She was watching Mystery Men, which is about a group of inept but well-intentioned superheroes. This was a movie we’d seen when it first came out in 1999 but not since then - it just happened to be showing on cable (USA channel). As I walked into the room, the scene that just happened to be on the screen was the one where Invisible Boy finally gets to show off his power - the power to become invisible, but only when no one is looking directly at him. He uses it to bypass a deadly machine. That’s a fascinating interpretation of one of the concepts I just wrote about.

How to Defeat Kolrami

One of the most potent lessons I’ve ever learned (and would love to impart to you) is just how powerful a seemingly simple perspective shift can be.
