How to Manage Study Workloads Effectively?
You can bet your bottom dollar that if you put something off until the next day, there’ll simply be something else that crops up and you’ll be putting it off again. Eventually, you find yourself in a position where the deadline is just around the corner, and there simply aren’t enough hours left in order for you to complete your work.
Does this scenario sound all too familiar to you? If it does, congratulations you are like practically everyone else on the planet. No one likes to do mundane things when there are things that we enjoy out there waiting to be done. That is just good old human nature. The consequence of this of course is that by putting it off, you are adding more stress at the end and making your life so much harder.
Instead of putting things off and then loosing track of what needs to be done and when it needs to be done by try compiling a list. That way you are able to prioritize your tasks and work through them accordingly. While it may seem hard to believe, if you try this method, you can be rest assured that you’ll end up having more time for doing all those fun things. Additionally, you’ll actually enjoy doing them even more because you’ll be free of stress.
While many people tend to think that they should complete all the small tasks first, before tackling the big important ones, in reality it works the other way around. Providing you tackle all the worst jobs first, the small jobs will be a breeze and before you know it, you’ll have quality free time on your hands. Likewise, if you have a specific job which you know will take longer than average, make a commitment to tackle it at a certain time and make sure you’ve set aside enough time to do it.
Another big waster of time is cell-phones. They all have voice mail; you would be wise to use it when studying. You should treat your study time as ‘do not disturb’ time or you will find yourself spending a few moments on this call, an hour on that call and before you know it, you are back into the time crunch again.
There’s an old adage which says you need to study smart, rather than study hard and this is particularly true in this case. As I’ve said already, the secret here is having a list and working strictly to it. While this applies to everyone, those who have to fit their studies in with keeping the house, raising kids, etc, will find a list to be extremely beneficial.
Of course, each person’s situation is different to the next, so each person will need to make their own adjustments, and fine tune their lists until you discover what works best for you.
