Personal Branding - Some very Simple Steps which will Help you Become Recognised
Will you read this from start to end? Probably not. Sadly, the statistics prove that most people are not prepared to change their habits enough to make the small move needed to become a success. It’s important to brand you before you brand a product.
Ok, so I am going to tell you the story. John is trying to market internet promotional products. He has several products lined up on his websites - each one with a review and rating.
John is keen to make things work and has budgetted $1000 a month on advertising with the hope he covers the cost after 2 months. The trouble is, he makes only 4 sales with $108 profit and actually makes a thumping great loss of over $1750 after just 2 months - he has to stop advertising right away.
Because of this huge loss, John decides that it is simply not a viable business proposition. The internet sucks and all you do is lose money, thinks John. He returns to his factory job and tells his co-workers to stay well clear of the internet.
John’s friend Bill listens to John but has his own ideas. Bill spends time reading on what to do to make money - he is quite a determined guy. Bill decides that he needs to get people to know him first and trust him. Almost like a group of friends. To do this, Bill creates a free graphics service, as he is good with images. He offers to create totally free splash pages for anybody.
Before long, word gets out and Bill is inundated with enquiries for free splash pages. Some people offer to pay him money for quicker service, and all of them sign up for his tips newsletter. This is the only request by Bill -sign up to my newsletter and I’ll do you a custom splash page - fair enough right?
After 2 very hectic years Bill has created a newsletter list of 100,000 people - all of which have had a free splash page made for them, thanks to Bills secret software, but that didn’t matter - they were great splash pages. John however was still going to work and telling people that the internet did not work.
Bill decides to tell his list about a great product he has tested, and 400 of them buy the product, making Bill 400 x $27 = $10,800 - qute nice huh? All he had to do was make splash pages for free - something he loves to do. Now Bill can sit back and work just one day a week, making as much as $10,000 every week if he wants.
Remember you can’t get this from a regular job. You need to invest in yourself, and brand yourself first. This kind of stuff isnt taught at school. If you’d like to work one day a wek, for real then try personal branding of yourself.
