Like other large urban areas in the Nation, the Twin Cities has government employers with thousands of local positions. Though public funding has been under scrutiny lately, these employers are still some of the largest in the state. Here are just a few of the biggest to check out in your Minneapolis jobs search.

The State of Minnesota is the principal employer in the state with close to 55,000 employees. The Minnesota state capitol is in the city of St. Paul and, as such, most of the management and administration services are located there. Having said that, the state has a broad reach and positions can be found throughout the Minneapolis Area and state.

The University of Minnesota is the biggest education organization in the state and one of the largest in the country.
